PC - Optimisation Guide

This article is designed to help assist with maintaining and keeping your computer up to date. You will want to clean and update the PC on a regular schedule to help avoid problems appearing that might have been adverted via maintenance. 

 

Step 1 - Windows Updates:

Doing Windows Updates ensures your operating system is always up to date, this means any new fixes or stable builds which have been released will be installed on your computer. 

  1. Press the Windows key on the left side of the keyboard.

  2. Type into the search bar Windows Updates.

  3. Click on update, this will find and install new Windows Update's

 

Step 2 - Driver Booster:

Driver Booster is a piece of software that will allow you to update every driver to their latest release. Driver Booster can be downloaded from the link here! 

  1. Once Driver Booster has been installed, it will scan your computer and look for any drivers that are out of date.
  2. Once the scan is complete, press the big red update button in the top right-hand corner and agree to the pop-up.
  3. The software will then download and install all the drivers necessary, this process will take approx 30 minutes and the screen will flicker off a few times. After the installation is complete you will need to reset the computer.

 

Step 3 - Graphics Driver:

Downloading the latest graphical driver will help to ensure that the graphics card always has the latest set of instructions to work with the latest software updates. 

  1. Click the Start Menu icon. 
  2. In the search bar, search for dxdiag and select the result from the top of the list.  
  3. Go over to the Display tab and find the name and manufacturer of your graphics card. 
  4. Go to the manufacturer site and download and install the latest graphics driver for your graphics card. (Examples are AMD or Nvidia)  

 

  Tips for optimising your PC:

  • Ensure that the PC is free from dust and dirt. Pay special attention to the fans and internal space within the PC with a hoover.
  • Download, install and run CCleaner for the PC from this link. Do not install the bloatware products within the installation. Upon opening analyse the system and delete any files the cleaner finds. This will delete temporary and unwanted data from the PC which will improve its performance. We do not advise that you utilize the Registry cleaner.
  • Download, install and run Malware Bytes for the PC from this link. Once again do not install the bloatware. After the software has been activated perform a full scan on the computer. Any viruses or malware will be identified and deleted.
  • Next move on to Advanced System Care, download from the following link and install.
  1. Once installed select the Speed Up tab and turn turbo boost on, also optimize the system and startup.
  2. On the Clean & Optimize tab, select all and press Scan, the software will now scan your PC and identify areas of optimisation.
  3. Once the scan is complete select Fix to optimise the PC, this can take approx. 30mins in total.
  • Afterwards please reset the PC, connect the launch monitor, open the software and test the system.
